Welcome back, Pirates!
I hope you are enjoying time with family and friends this summer and are getting ready
for a great school year! I am excited for my second year in Pirate Nation and want to
thank parents, students, and the community for all the support. Our goal as a staff this
year is to continue to build positive connections with families and our community while
providing quality instruction to all students. Kids deserve amazing and we have the team
to make that happen!
Our focus this year at Dayton Jr/Sr High School will be to continue to strengthen our
systems to support positive behavior, good grades, and to increase attendance. We will
need community and family support in order to make these gains. Attendance is a huge
indicator of future success and if a student is not here, we cannot teach them. We
understand that perfect attendance is not realistic, but we do ask that students ‘Strive for 5’ or less absences per semester. If students can maintain 90% attendance rates, they will learn more, perform better in school, have decreased stress/anxiety from makeup work, and demonstrate to an employer that they are reliable. In addition to those positives, we do weekly, monthly, and semester drawings for prizes, and we provide attendance certificates at awards assemblies.
This upcoming school year is going to be awesome and it is great year to be a Pirate!
As summer wraps up, please have fun, be safe, and we will see you at registration

¡Bienvenidos, Piratas!
¡Espero que estén disfrutando del tiempo con sus familia y amigos este verano y se
estén preparando para un gran año escolar! Estoy emocionado por mi segundo año en
Nación Pirata y quiero agradecer a los padres, estudiantes y la comunidad por todo el
apoyo. Nuestro objetivo como personal este año es continuar construyendo conexiones
positivas con las familias y nuestra comunidad mientras brindamos instrucción de
calidad a todos los estudiantes. ¡Los estudiantes merecen algo increíble y tenemos el
equipo para hacer que eso suceda!
Nuestro enfoque este año en la Secundaria/Preparatoria de Dayton será continuar
fortaleciendo nuestros sistemas para apoyar el comportamiento positivo, las buenas
calificaciones y aumentar la asistencia. Necesitaremos el apoyo de la comunidad y la
familia para lograr estos logros. La asistencia es un gran indicador del éxito futuro y si
un estudiante no está aquí, no podemos enseñarle. Entendemos que la asistencia
perfecta no es realista, pero pedimos que los estudiantes se 'Esfuercen por 5' o menos ausencias por semestre. Si los estudiantes pueden mantener tasas de asistencia del 90%, aprenderán más, se desempeñarán mejor en la escuela, tendrán menos estrés/ansiedad por el trabajo de recuperación y le demostrarán a un empleador que son confiables. Además de esos positivos, realizamos sorteos de premios semanales, mensuales y semestrales, y entregamos certificados de asistencia a las asambleas de premiación.
¡Este próximo año escolar será increíble y es un gran año para ser un pirata! A medida
que termina el verano, diviértanse, manténganse seguros y nos vemos en el día de
registración, el 10 de agosto de 8:AM-8:PM
